Soon after the armistice, the German command requisitioned all the available Re 2005s, whether manufactured or under construction. It instructed Reggiane to introduce some major modifications, such as the inversion of the throttle control function, changes to the electrical system, the replacement of the engine and propeller with original German components, and application of Luftwaffe emblems. It is believed that at least 13 aircraft were completed for the Luftwaffe, which, due to the Re 2005’s excellent performance, decided to deploy them as part of the defence of Berlin, but it seems as if they never actually left Italy
