On February 22nd, the Oasis Flight 1937 resumed after a one-year hiatus. The long-distance competition, organized by the Egyptian Aero Club, had no restrictions on entries. The scoring was based on the following formula:

N = 100 (6 v/V + 12 P/p + 4 d/D + C/20)
where
N is the number of points,
V is the maximum speed of the best participant,
v is the speed of the participant being evaluated,
P is the lowest fuel consumption per passenger mile of the best
participant,
p is the fuel consumption of the aircraft being evaluated,
D is the best flight range of a participant,
d is the flight range of the participant's aircraft being evaluated,
C is the number of points reached (constant).

In addition, a technical pre-test assessed travel comfort, safety, etc. The flight itself was divided into two completely separate events: the oasis tour and the speed flight.
