First glider designed and built by Max KEGEL, in a workshop of the Wasserkuppe between November 1925 and June 1926, with the help of the carpenter Fritz PAUL. The construction was completed in the workshop of the Mitteldeutschen Flugverband e. V. zu Kassel (MFV), in Kassel, from May 1926.
The first flight took place at the Dörnberg (sandow launch), flight site of the MFV. Satisfied with the performance of his glider, Kegel took part in the 1926 Rhön contest (contest number 42). Famous record flight of 55.2 km from the Wasserkuppe on August 12, 1926.
In 1928, participation in the Vauville 1928 competition (n° 6). Then at the Rhön competition the same year (with the competition number 48?).
In 1927, Kegel will adapt a DKW motor in pylon on the Kegel I repainted in blue [see Kegel I Blaue]
