School glider type "Matador" with boot.
This type was developed from the destroyer described in "Flugsport" issue 26 (1927) and has significant advantages over the destroyer. In the front central structure, the front strut (skull splitter) has been omitted. The ailerons and rudder are enlarged to have lower control deflections. The construction of the stems has been changed; these have thus become considerably lighter and firmer. The upper spar of the lattice tail is designed in such a way that only bracing of the upper level is necessary. By using a different profile with a higher Ca and lower Cd value, the aircraft has gained significantly better flight characteristics. Also, no longer board spars are used, but double T spars, since it has been shown in practice that the repair of a double T spar is no more difficult than that of a board spar. The lattice tail is removable behind the boat, as with the destroyer. The destroyer has endured more than 500 training flights in the school operations of the Flugtechnische Verein Hamburg e. V. The wings and the lattice tail have now been used again to build a training machine, as these parts were still in perfect order.
