In 1929, the first flight of the aircraft failed,  the misconduct of the aircraft was blamed on a faulty design . After some modifications a renewed flight experiment was undertaken in the spring of 1930 , the glider  slumped again from 4 meters height and became damaged again . The  pilots on both occasions  was unharmed
As part of a thesis developed at the Akaflieg by Heinz Prince, an aircraft called HL28 ( high performance aircraft 1928) was designed with 20 m span swept wings and a positive shear lag tailplane the aircraft for the utilization of even the weakest thermals was designed . Thesis was supervised by Dr. Potter , who had received the necessary funds from the Karlsruhe University Association . After this unsuccessful attempt to fly, the unsuitability of the design was proven and the group refused to spend  more time and labor on the HL28
