Heinkel He 74 B Training Biplane (Sportflieger 1938)
This single-seat, braced biplane is used as a trainer with special equipment.
Rectangular wings with elliptical tips. Dihedral of the upper wing is 3°, of the smaller lower wing 1°. Aerodynamically well-designed transition from the lower wing to the fuselage.
Two-spar wooden construction. The leading edge and the area between the spars are covered with plywood, with fabric covering behind. I-struts made of light alloy. Profile wire bracing.Ailerons only in the upper wing, actuated by pushrods through the lower wing and I-strut. Landing flaps in the lower wing, actuated by pushrods.
Oval fuselage, welded from steel tubing, tapering into a vertical rib at the rear. The frame is manufactured in individual sub-assemblies and then welded together.
Lightweight wooden paneling to shape the fabric wall covering. Behind the engine is a firewall, fuel tank, above which is a machine gun, followed by the cockpit.
