Dipl.lng. Wolfgang Klemperer, assistant to professor Karman at the Technical University of Aachen, even before the I.Weltkrieg he was working with the problem with canard design and 1912-13, together with his friends and Friedrich Timstein, built a canard plane. In 1919, the project of a three-seater airplane for passenger transport as a canard. The considerations were based on the draft Klemperer described as follows: "A normal flying boat actually has all the components of a canard, but also still an annoying rear fuselage. This you need against undercutting of the water anyway. The propeller must be higher than the boot. Structurally and aerodynamically it is therefore considered as a saving when the stabilization members can be built on the bug and can omit all else necessary. Also, you do not need to minimise the load space by motor assemblies. " The Klemperer .Wasser-Ente "was designed as a double-decker and should be powered by a 200 hp in-line engine in the rear. The raised boat hull formed at the same time the carrier for the horizontal and vertical stabilizers. The three occupants were seated in a comfortable, fully enclosed cabin. The design was just a project because the necessary funds for implementation were missing.
