Started operations at the naval airbase Quintero, belonging to the 1st Naval Aviation Group. In Februariy 1927 3 Wals made along distance flight between Quintero and Talcahuano and later between Quintero and Antofagasta. After the merger of Army and Naval aviation, the seven remaining Wals were assigned to the Aviation Mixed Group N° 2, created June 30th 1930. On June 14th 1930 the first exercises of the Navy and the Air Force started with Wals N° 17 and 18 participating. On March 1931 3 Wals took part in an expedition,joining the fleet, to the Punta Arenas. The Wals were in the service until 1943, replaced by Catalinas.
