The BV-250 is a land version of the heaviest flying boat of that time, BV-238, on the creation of which the Blom-Voss company had been working since November 1940. From its predecessor It was distinguished by the absence of a redan, in place of which a bomb bay was equipped, and a bicycle chassis.
Initially, it was planned to install four Jumo 223 engines with a capacity of 2500 hp each, but in July 1940, due to delays in the supply of engines, it was decided to convert the project to six DB 603D engines with a capacity of 1900 hp each.
The armament consisted of an upper front and tail turret, as well as two front and a pair of rear side turrets with coaxial MG 131 machine guns. In addition, in four side windows had a coaxial MG 131 machine gun. The bomb load reached 5000 kg. Four experimental BV-250 aircraft were assembled in parallel with the BV238 flying boats.
