Albatros small aircraft, type L 67
is a sports single-seater and intended for any kind of aerobatics.
The hull, made of plywood in Albatros construction, is separated from the engine by a fireproof clamp made of tubular steel; the engine installation is arranged separately from the aircraft fuselage and attached to it only by means of 4 bolts; this not only makes repairs to the engine itself particularly easier, but the entire engine can be exchanged for another one in a few minutes.
The pilot's seat, in which all the organs used to operate the aircraft and engine are located in convenient proximity for the pilot, is arranged in the fuselage in such a way that the leader reaches the seat through the wing from above. If the aircraft overturns during an unfortunate landing, it is easily possible for the guide to leave the aircraft through openings located between the fuselage and the wing on the right and left. Visibility is particularly good due to the torso contracted upwards. Longitudinal and ailerons are operated by sticks, the rudder by foot levers. The fixed connection of rudder and spur ensures fast turning when taxiing. The fuselage is pulled up to the wing in the middle of the aircraft in front of and behind the driver's seat. At this point the fittings are attached, through which, with the possibility of easy solution, the fuselage and wings are connected to each other. The wing consists of two halves, which are joined together in the middle of the aircraft by bolts that are also easily detachable. In addition, the wing is supported against the fuselage on the right and left side by 3 struts that are flexibly connected to each other, which are also easy to detach. The wing is planked with plywood, into which large holes are cut (for relief) and covered with impregnated fabric. The ailerons are made of thin tubular steel and covered with fabric. On the left and right of the wing is a gasoline tank of the same size, the contents of which are sufficient for about 3 hours of operation.
The 30 hp Bristol "Cherub" or the 30 hp British Anzani can be used as engines. The engine is encased in a thin aluminum sheet metal fairing. To remove the motor, only 4 bolts need to be loosened.
