Discovery of the slope gliding site "Weper" by aviation enthusiasts members of the AVA Göttingen and later founding members of the FLAVAG. Some cite 1927, others 1928 as the beginning of aviation on the Weper. We tend to follow the statements of Marlies Müller-Mahr, who refers to long-established Fredelsloh residents. In any case, it was a start with many obstacles and interruptions. You can take this literally: Breaks in the isolated trees and pasture fences were the order of the day and interrupted the activity again for weeks...

Foundation of the "Fliegergruppe an der AVA Göttingen" (FLAVAG). HERE are some annual reports, statutes and founding members. FLAVAG carries out flight operations on the Weper, on the Faßberg and on the Kerstlingeröder Feld. In their workshop, with the help of unemployed people who were organized in a kind of ABM, several in-house designs with considerable flight performance were created. One of the consequences:
FLAVAG wins the prize of 60 RM offered by the Göttinger Zeitung and the city of Göttingen for the first glider flight over one hour within a radius of 6 km from the city of Göttingen! ... those were the days, back then!
