Romanians used them to retrain flight personnel. In Kirovograd , they helped the crews of the 8th Attack Air Group to master the Hs.129, in Arad and they were used to train crews of night fighters and reconnaissance aircraft. The Romanian planes were not repainted, but retained German camouflage and side codes. One of these aircraft, after Romania declared war on Germany, was transferred for study to the Air Force Research Institute.
