Designed by H. Hoffmann in 1929 Improved "Westpreussen". Aileron and rudder connected like D-9. In the contest Rhön 1929 the Akaflieg Darmstadt took part with the last glider, the Starkenburg , in addition to their Darmstadt II . Unfortunately, it was broken in his first test flights and was not repaired during the contest. It was subsequently reconstructed by A. Endres and renamed Würzburg. |
Improved Darmstadt D-15 Westpreussen .
The wing- section and the junction of the wing with the body are different , as
well as minor details . Throughout the building it was refined and showed a series of interesting novelties . Once again , as in the case of the " Consul , " the Darmstadt team set to work to the rudder and aileron torque control in such a way , that ' When the rudder control was put into action it was automatically accompanied by the support of the
aileron control, without any resulting and direct action upon the control- stick. This method of differential coupling had proved Itself very good in the case of the " Consul " .
