The Dz-4 Pinguin, performance glider, was designed by Helmut LUGNER as part of his thesis for his engineering degree. It bore strong resemblances to Oleg ANTONOV's Rot Front 7 (with which Olga Klepikowa had set a world distance record (749.203 km) on July 6, 1939. The Pinguin was nicknamed "Betonbomber" [concrete bomber] because of its its appearance
....
At Easter, 1939, comparison flights were conducted by Technical Expert Groups (FFG) and Working Groups (FAG) under the technical supervision of engineer Hans ZACHER instead The flight characteristics of the Dz 4 were therefore not bad, but they could be slightly improved in the repair, where the contours of the wings were changed[repair following an accident?] .
... In 1941, the Dz 4 was again restored to flying condition and probably flew in 1942, in Gdynia and Stargard (Pomerania).
