Technical information
Two versions: "Fliege" I and II. The only visible difference is the shape of the fin flap. Fuselage in welded steel tubes. Steel shrouds. Wood and canvas wing.
Drawn by Otto HOLMUTH, President of the BSV [Berliner Segelfugverein eV., Berlin Gliding Association] . Otto BEDAU assisted the designer and was the builder. The first tests took place on April 5, 1931, near Rhinow, in the Stölln mountains. Several flights were made by Otto BEDAU. The aircraft was damaged after a hard landing. A photo of the glider in flight, in November 1932, attests to its repair.
The Fliege was manufactured at cost for various DLV clubs [Deutsche Luftsportverband eV.] and an additional 19 examples were built at various gliding clubs . The Gruse firm also offered the Fliege IIa at a price of 900 RM. ["Luftpost" 1932]
