In 1928, an aviation group was created for the students of the Technical School of Mittweida [Technischen Lehranstalten Mittweida]. On June 6, 1929, the group's first glider, of the Zögling type, was built, named "Technikum Mittweida". This was followed by two introductory gliders: a Schleicher Anfänger (named "Richtofen") and the FMB named "Bruno Loerzer", named after the director of the Deutscher Luftsport-Verband (DLV)
